As we headed south/east away from the Barossa Valley toward Mt Gambier we stopped to spend one of our days at the Monarto Safari Park, which is a short drive out of Murray Bridge near Adelaide. This is without a doubt the best zoo either of us have ever visited and it was so lovely to be able to get up close and take photos of all the large game animals, and even better to see the animals living contentedly in groups as close to free range as possible.

Zoos SA run both Adelaide Zoo and Montarto Safari Park - supporting endangered animal consevation, education & research programs across South Australia.

My favourite pics from our day at Monarto Safari Park are to follow ... we really fell in love with the chimps, giraffes, meerkats & big pussycats - but all the animals were georgous and lovely to photograph.

The last guy is an imposter we found wandering around the visitor information center - trying to become a star by hanging with all the other big names in the animal kingdom!
